Summer Jawns

Summer Reading
I'm sure you've figured it out by now but, in case you haven't, the Philly girl in me says Summer Jawns (in this case books), instead of Summer Books.

I started with Gone Girl, which I found enthralling! Often times, I couldn't put it down. Sad to say though...I was woefully disappointed with the ending - no spoiler alert.

I'm currently reading a classic...Madame Bovary. It's about  a desperate housewife who hastens her destruction by her reckless pursuit of naive romantic fantasies. Though set in 19th century France, Madame Bovary's twists, intrigues, scandal and overall themes still resonant to this day.

As for the other two, Ghana Must Go and The Twelve Tribes of Hattie, I'll give you some more info once I dive into them. And YES that glass of wine goes with all my jawns;-).

What's on your Summer reading list?

  1. Every summer I go back to a classic while indulging in new reads. This summer I am going to reread the Scarlet Letter as well as My Beloved World, by Sonia Sotomayor and I may delve into one of the books you have suggested. Thanks for providing me with options.

  2. A classic is always a great choice. It's wonderful to revisit them with some life under our belts and a totally different perspective!
